For our March Teacher Spotlight, we interviewed Neesha Patel.

What grade(s) are you currently teaching?

10th grade conceptual physics and leadership all grades

What do you enjoy most about teaching science?

Science is awesome and therefore super fun to talk about. Easy to engage with since it answers a lot of questions of the world.

What do you enjoy the least?

Science can be very tedious and it therefore requires a lot of patience.  

What’s your favorite element?

Never thought about it before – maybe Hydrogen.

What do you love most about working at San Marin?

Great colleagues, beautiful campus, awesome kids!

Do you remember your first class? What was it like?

I remember being in kindergarten and playing house with my friends.

What’s your most memorable teaching moment?

A student made a laser pointer using an old light from a VCR, an Altoid can and a battery. They used what they learned in class and made it at home – made me proud and I felt like I really taught something!

What was your favorite subject in High School?

AP Bio and physiology

What was your least favorite subject in High School?

English or history

What’s your favorite thing to do outside of San Marin?

Ride my bike.
